Tabby Lucas

Tabby Lucas was born in Oxford and has family roots in the city, dating back over 100 years. For the past 25 years Tabby has lived with her family in a village on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Every place has its own story to tell. Tabby can share with you the rich history of the area including the lives of some of the eccentric characters who lived here, or the literary figures who were inspired by this special part of England. Tabby's background is in wildlife conservation and she specialises in guided walking tours taking in the nature and landscapes of the Cotswolds.

Tabby is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Join her to discover the countryside, towns and villages of the Cotswolds. She can arrange transport by private car, but she particularly recommends exploring on foot.

Tabby is also a specialist Green Badge Tourist Guide for the university city of Oxford. She could guide you around one of the 39 colleges or perhaps sleuth out filming locations for Morse, Lewis and Endeavour. Alternatively, discover about the people involved in the history of science and medicine in Oxford. Or why not take a magical family tour looking for where Harry Potter was filmed and places that inspired children’s books such as Alice in Wonderland or Philip Pullman’s Lyra books.

Some feedback:

"Tabby provided our group of six with two days of guided tours in the Western Cotswolds and a day tour of Oxford, and we can't praise her too highly. Our guided walks were well planned and Tabby provided an ongoing commentary of all aspects of the walks from the rich history of the region to all the local fauna. In addition Tabby knows Oxford intimately and in the space of a few hours provided us with a real appreciation of the Colleges, University and City. A great experience." "Thank you for a very enjoyable tour of Oxford. I found the architectural details and the historical events and people fascinating. Also, the many locations which have appeared in movies and TV series were very interesting. I was very impressed by Tabby who was very knowledgeable and personable." ( B from Ottawa, Canada.)

Despite living near Oxford all my life, I’d never learned as much over my 23 years about Oxford city as I learned from one tour with Tabby. Her extent of knowledge is incredible and she really brought history to life during the tour by recounting stories and showing us specific events’ locations I would otherwise not have visited. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend Tabby as a guide to anyone of any age" (I from Oxfordshire)

Tabby has been awarded the "We're Good To Go" industry mark from Visit England, which shows that she has followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, has a risk assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
